Environmental Education
and Promotion

Through environmental education, we seek to communicate the basic concepts related to the region and its conservation to the residents of the areas within or neighboring the Iberá Park and Reserve with the objective of getting them involved in its care and management.

In this sense we have developed an environmental education program which has been implemented continuously from 2005 to 2009, in both rural and urban schools around the Iberá basin. As rural schools are in direct contact with the environment, the goal was to get children to appreciate again the resources and the nature that surrounds them, seeking that they will someday be able to become local guides or environmental promoters. In urban schools, on the other hand, the goal was to teach the students to value and be aware of the resources and the environment from which they are increasingly alienated, striving to make them campaigners of this vision of conservation of the environment in which they find themselves.

A community workshop

From 2010 onwards, the environmental education program was reformulated to work with neighboring communities of the Carambola, San Nicolás, Cambyretá and Laguna Iberá portals to promote local development through ecotourism. Simultaneously, the "Corrientes becomes Corrientes again" campaign was launched with the intention of achieving a revalorization of the culture and nature of Iberá, to bring back a sense of pride and identification to the people of Corrientes with their land.
